Building A Window

1. This design started by developing a concept after laying out fired mason jar bottoms and a bird I had painted as a glass study.
Picture
2. This developed into a specific line drawing where all the glass pieces have been cut to complete piece, including glass bottle tops.
Picture
3. This images shows the piece on the light table during the process of painting the image on to the glass.

4. Each piece is then placed in the kiln for firing to make the paint permanent.
Picture
5. After the firing is complete, all pieces are leaded/foiled together and the joints are soldered.
Picture
6. The piece goes through a cementing process that seals the window and blackens the lead as it’s final step before completion and placed in a supportive frame.
